Start an “Intervention for Uncle Sam” movement.
Don’t you agree that Uncle Sam needs an intervention before his addiction to fossil fuels and tax money kills the nation?
    Tough love for Uncle Sam!

John, thank you for your thoughtful suggestion. We certainly agree the govt of the USA needs a tough-love intervention against its addiction to fossil fuels, and we hope you’ll like our stance and action at http://sen4earth.org/articles/2010/04/06/drill-us-to-hell-say-what-you-demand/

As to Uncle Sam’s addiction to taxes, we might have have a different take. We think the wealthiest individuals and too many multinational corporations including huge oil companies pay too little in taxes. Overall, total tax revenue as a percentage of GDP is lower in the USA than Canada, Australia, Germany, Italy, the UK, Spain, Turkey, Switzerland, Portugal, Ireland, Israel, Poland, Russia, Hungary, Brazil, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, and a number of other countries. And it actually fell in 2009 and will fall again in 2010. But if you want an intervention over the huge portion of taxes that go to pay for oil used by our military, and to fight wars over access to oil in the Middle East, let’s ask the wealthiest 1% and Big Oil if they want to pay for it.

Let’s ask Wall Street to pay for it….they didn’t have to pay any taxes this year – in fact, they got a HUGE REFUND! Imagine that! They steal our money and get a refund back on it also.

For all the political theater, the hearings have provided little new information or shed much light on the causes of the explosion or the true extent of the danger to the environment. We want answers now!!

I am so glad to see some of the influential people like Bill Gates getting involved in this most important issue. Having worked on enviornmental concerns for the last 10 years, the facts are undeniable. Thanks Gregory for putting this out there. I sent it to my Facebook profile in hopes it will reach people and they will realize the magnitude of what is facing our planet.
